What is meant by formal attire (morning dress optional)?Formal attire for men is suits, and for women is a dress longer than knee length. Morning Dress is encouraged for those who already have it and will be worn by those in the wedding party such as the groomsen. This consists of a morning coat, waist coat and trousers. The wedding ceremony will not take place in a church and so hats, facinators and other headpieces are entirely optional. Needless to say, please do not wear white.

What should I wear to a ceilidh?Ceilidhs are often quite energetic, so something that would allow freedom of movement is highly recommended. You are welcome to change for the evening reception should you wish, but should still remain formal. Please ensure you have comfortable shoes for the evening - should you wish to bring a spare pair of shoes there will be a cloakroom available.

Do I need a partner to join in the Ceilidh? No! Ceilidhs are incredibly inclusive. Traditionally at the start of the song you will be asked to find a 'partner', and it is primarily due to the structure of the dance that being in even numbers helps. During many of the songs you will change partners as part of the dance, go in circles or dance with everyone!
